Lansdale September First Friday
It was a rainy first Friday and I got to try out something I have been meaning to do for a long time. I had my artwork displayed in the window of Love Obsessed, a local clothing shop. I set up my easel on the sidewalk in front of the shop in the rain. I chose to not be under the awning so the rain could slide across my canvas. It was warm enough to wear just a hoodie and paint for 2 hours until I lost the light. People stopped by to check out my work and chat about my painting. I spoke with this woman, Annie McCourt-Makaron, who was displaying her work across the street from me. (This First Friday, artists were showing in storefronts along Main St.) she recognized me from me painting around town. It turns out one of the paintings I had on display, featured her children that I painted nearly 10 years ago at a previous First Friday. It seemed to me that this painting belonged to her, so I traded it for a piece of her work. I also painted her into this one. She is the lady with the big hair.
I am the lady with the big hair!
